The Summary

Prior to being abruptly taken away, Zoe Tisdale's dream profession as a wedding coordinator was within reach. Uncertain about what to do next, Zoe concentrates on aiding her elderly landlady Celia in saving the Inn at Willa Bay, the seaside community they both call home.

Meg, a friend of Zoe's, was a chef in a big city before moving back to Willa Bay to work at the lodge and be nearer to her family after learning that her mother had cancer. She is considering if she is suited for life in a small town now that her mother is recovering.

As a divorced mother of two, their coworker Cassie, the lodge's pastry chef, is having a difficult time navigating her new life. However, it always appears to be one stride forward and two steps back.

All of their lives will be irrevocably altered when Zoe, enigmatic newcomer Shawn, and the others learn Celia's long-kept secret.

My Review

The story of these friends is incredibly moving. Very relaxing and light reading. truthful and elegantly written about the daily struggles of life. You can pick up knowledge on a variety of topics, such as friendship, profession, juggling a demanding schedule and being a parent.

Although I thought the characters were underdeveloped and at first kept confusing them due to their different ages, I think most readers would find the book appealing. The diversity of the individuals' occupations and talents adds to their appeal. Her descriptions of the coastline help readers get a sense of place. Consequently, that is still a plus.

Albeit predictable, the plot is solid. No overt sex; discrete language. Rumors and gossip are common in small towns. It was entertaining to see the inn being renovated. It would be enjoyable reading for the beach or in a slump.

Overall, it's a good book to read when you're not looking for something particularly thought-provoking to keep you busy all the time.
