The Summary
What could possible go wrong with one weekend and one upcoming bride?
On her hen weekend, Shelley only desired three days of sun, sea, and sangria. She somehow ends up with a Golden Girls-meets-the-Spice Girls B-list that includes her mother, a disobedient teen, and a best friend who is "on the verge," though, instead of being surrounded by the A-team of her closest pals.
The argument starts at the airport, and when Shelley finally arrives in Spain, she hardly has time to unpack her suitcase before receiving an obnoxious text that calls into question her nuptials.
Shelley must make a BIG choice, but her rambunctious assortment of family members seem determined to complicate matters with their own issues.
Will they be able to help her get through the most significant weekend of her life?
My Review
This was a very enjoyable read. Despite having quite different personalities, I loved how these women joined them for the highs and lows of the hen party.
The two parts of this story are the wedding today and the hen weekend that took place twenty years ago. The main action of this book, however, occurs twenty years earlier, when Shelley, her best friend, and some members of her family fly to Spain for her hen party.
It's a very brilliant and hilarious book to read. The characters are absolutely believable and highly entertaining. You watch their pranks and see how each one of them has changed. Moreover, it shows how each character evolves into a more positive version of themselves.
Since this isn't just a book about love and marriage, I thought the narrative switches, the pace, and the plot were quite cleverly done. There is a great deal more at play.
Tracy Bloom's writing is enjoyable to read even though the plot is somewhat predictable in some places.
After all, this is amusing and lighthearted. This novel will definitely make you laugh.
