The Summary

After ten years, a second chance.

Andi Scott vowed she'd never return when she left her hometown ten years ago. But after hearing about her father's passing, she finds herself on all too familiar roads. Every turn carries with it a new recollection of the girl she was then and the boy she had fallen in love with and lost. The only saving grace is that she can't possibly still be dating her ex-lover Corey Johnson. Even though it cost them everything, they both managed to escape.

Andi hasn't even been in town for a day when she learns that Corey is not only still in Fairford but also co-founded a prosperous local company with her father. The news causes Andi to reevaluate all she thought she knew and breaks down the barriers she had erected around her history.

Andi can't deny Corey's boyish grin or the way he still stares at her as if she's the only person in the room when he asks her to stay in town. She doesn't want to, either. Corey is still the same person who, with one crooked smile, improved the worst day of her life, but he's keeping something from her. Even if it means revealing her heart to the one who initially broke it, Andi must find out what it is.

My review

The Corey Effect is a heartwarming tale about friends and family, first loves, and second chances.

It was easy to relate to Andi and everything she went through because to the excellent writing. The chapters that carried us back in time and progressively described events that had taken place years before the current plot were my favorites. Since the chapters seamlessly transitioned between the past and the present, I never felt disoriented or overwhelmed in this instance.

I cried over the story's twists and how much Andi and Corey's personalities developed. It was genuine and effortless.

I particularly appreciate how Andi's character came into her own over the course of the previous ten years and dealt with some challenging truths. Andi's personality had already undergone a great deal of personal and spiritual development. Her ability to make original choices and forge her own personality was promising.

Corey had changed a lot as an adult, yet he still maintained his appealing charm and easygoing nature. He doesn't place any strain on the situation and is quite understanding.

The result exceeded all of my expectations. I wish there had been more of Corey's point of view in this book, despite the fact that it is only briefly shown to us.

I wholeheartedly urge you to buy this book if you enjoy second chances and would be interested in it.

Attention: this book discusses very important topics, including alcohol misuse and its consequences.

In exchange for an unbiased review, Red Adept Publishing and NetGalley gave me the opportunity to receive an ARC.
