The Summary

Rowena, a single mother, is constantly seeking for ways to live more sustainably with her daughter Nia, age 4. As a result, she is motivated to open a zero-waste shop in her hometown of Foxmore after visiting one in Cardiff. Local businesses and artisan shops are an integral part of the community there.

When Huw runs into Rowena on the day he moves to Foxmore, it's love at first sight for him. But misunderstandings have prevented the two from getting to know one another, and now a fight over Rowena's shop may put an end to any budding romance.

The future of Rowena's shop and her relationship with Huw are suddenly in jeopardy when a mysterious character from her past unexpectedly reappears. Can Rowena still find love and fulfill her aspirations of owning a corner shop?

My Review

This novel is the ideal example of the cozy romance genre. I was looking for a quick read when I noticed this book's cover. Nothing disappointed me. Set in the lovely village of Foxmore, this charming and uplifting love story is delightful to read.

The narrative centers on Rowena, a single mother of Nia, who is four years old (almost five! ), and lives in the quaint Welsh hamlet of Foxmore. The love story in the novel is about Rowena and Huw, the new boy in town, and it's not your average romance. Additionally, it highlights the adoration of her close friends and family and, most importantly, a mother's love for her daughter.

I found the relationships between the characters to be endearing and engaging. There were a few steamy moments, but not enough to overpower the appeal of the plot. You can truly feel the connection between Rowena and Hue as a reader, and the story itself was intriguing.

The book also made a point of emphasizing how important it is to avoid single-use plastics whenever possible. I support sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, but this book comes across as a bit "preachy"; some readers could find it to be excessive, while others might find it to be acceptable. However, I feel that it goes into far too much information.

Overall, reading the book was a pleasure. I grinned even though I was aware of the outcome. The second book in the series has me really interested.

This review is my personal and uninfluenced opinion; I received a free early copy of the book from Canelo and NetGalley.
