The Summary
Alex Blackwood is a little bit brazen, a little bit chaotic, and a lot flirty. She is skilled at seducing women. On the other hand, keeping her wasn't so easy. Molly Parker is completely in charge of every aspect of her life, with the exception of how awkward she is around everyone besides her mother. She is aware that she is in love with Cora Myers, who is incredibly cool. Simply said, she hasn't spoken to her yet.
The same planet, much alone the same college campus, is not where Alex and Molly belong. But when Molly and Alex cross paths the night before classes begin and Alex, who is just out of a nasty (but hopefully temporary) split, learns about Molly's secret obsession, they realize they could after all share a common interest. Because Molly might be able to convince her ex that she is not a selfish flirt if Alex agrees to teach her how to seduce her ideal partner. that she is prepared to make a serious commitment. Although Alex is the last person Molly would ever want to put her trust in, it is undeniable that she has more experience with girls than she does.
They each start to wonder if perhaps they're the ones falling...for each other as they begin their five-step schemes to woo their women.
My Review
I felt the collegiate atmosphere in this book was incredibly sweet and enjoyed it very much. there is a ton of humor and just the proper amount of angst. It took me some time to get to know the characters, but once I did, I was captivated even if I felt a little unfulfilled.
The main characters of this book are Molly and Alex, who are starting their first year of college. In an effort to impress a girl she likes, Molly asks Alex for help. but falls in love with her instead. As they experimented in college and worked out their feelings for one another, it was fun to watch them grow.
I did wish there had been more scenes showcasing their chemistry and romantic interest in one another, though. Since this is such a slow-burn, I do hope that it would go along a little more quickly so that the characters could have more "couple time" because, in some respects, the narrative is basically about a deep mutual bond between two queer ladies, and it may have made the story even more heartbreaking. Fortunately, this story was excellent at evoking emotions.
The plot doesn't offer anything new. As a result, I would suggest giving up if you haven't noticed the appeal by the first third of the book. The outcome was completely evident since all I knew about it was the title and the skates on the cover. The book is therefore more about the journey than the resolution. And what a ride it was.
The tone and writing style, which were so laid-back, worked nicely with the subject matter. The way the two characters relied on one another for support while tackling some challenging issues in the storyline was also something I liked. I strongly believe that this labels the book as new adult.
This YA/NA romance was beautifully done. I would without a doubt recommend this to fans of rom-coms and romance literature. I'll tell you right now that you won't want to miss this!
