The Summary

1954. The first time Zara meets Leon is on a chilly December night when she is fifteen years old. The two spend a brief hour in the dark conversing about their shared love of art, Monet, and Paris during a power outage in a modest French museum. Neither party is aware of the other's appearance. Their lives will never be the same, they are both aware.

1963. Leon has given all hope of ever finding the girl he misplaced that night in Paris. Zara believes she has discovered him after years of having him in her dreams. They don't recognize each other when they first meet at a charity gala, but they both feel the same way.

Zara and Leon will continue to fall in love over the period of twenty years. Will they ever manage to reconcile, though?

My Review

What a fantastic book. The story of "Someday in Paris" deviates from the conventions of the common love story subgenre. It makes you halt in your tracks and inspires hope for what real, unwavering love is all about.

The grandma telling her granddaughter a very special story from her "dreams" is where the story begins. She takes us back in time as she tells the story, introducing Zara and Leon along the way. After a power outage, two youngsters who have been drawn together by fate and who have been passionate about art for 20 years become intertwined.

Characters who are well drawn, lovable, passionate, strong, and brave are present. They appeared to be incredibly lifelike on the page. The major characters and the plot both benefited greatly from the depth provided by the supporting characters.

I also really liked how fast the book moved along since it kept me interested in what was happening. I couldn't put it down. The beauty of this narrative is absolutely beyond words. Thanks to the author's wonderful way of telling this story, we are able to feel each and every scene as if we were looking at those priceless artworks or traveling through Paris and discovering it for the first time.

It's been a long since I was moved by a love tale, so the fact that this book made me cry multiple times while reading it was amazing for me.

Well, this is absolutely highly recommended for anyone looking for a sophisticated but not overly corny romantic getaway or love!:)
