The Summary

Following her soon-to-be ex-announcement husband's that he was divorcing her, Maggie has returned home to Adele. She moved in with her aunt Celia Montgomery after packing up their six-year-old kid. They've managed to get back on their feet, and she has no intention of repeating her errors. She will cheerfully pay that price if it means remaining alone forever in order to avoid experiencing the same pain once more.

However, Jensen has different ideas. He knows he needs to get to know her as soon as he sees her, holding a club sandwich no less. He is a man on a mission to win Maggie's heart in spite of her numerous breakdowns.

When the two of them are at odds, tension develops in unexpected ways. Will Jensen be able to show that he has the heart to share with Maggie and her daughter, or will her obstinate pride keep her alone forever?

My Review

Love the romance and humor in this sweet tale! It was a great standalone because even though I hadn't read the first book in the series, I didn't feel out of place or like I had missed anything.

Magnolia, or Maggie, the protagonist of the story, is attempting to mend her life with her daughter while weighing the idea of dating Jensen, a nearby park ranger who is forthright about his emotions for her.

Magnolia built a life that I liked after being treated so horribly by her ex-husband. The charm of the story was enhanced by Josie's exuberance, especially as she developed feelings for Jensen. Their compatibility profoundly brings the plot to life.

I loved the impression of a little town that came through in all the descriptions of the characters and place, and the supporting cast was excellently portrayed. Consider yourself a resident of Adele's hometown.

I find it fascinating how this author can make the story light and enjoyable while still involving the reader with just the appropriate amount of drama and passion. The way that everything turned out for them made me happy.

Readers seeking for a quick, wholesome romance will love this book.

I gave this review voluntarily after getting a copy for free. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
