The Summary

Josie Way enjoyed working among the leather-scented volumes of the Library of Congress until she discovered corruption and became a target. Till the case is resolved in court, Josie can remain a covert agent by posing as Wilfred, Oregon's new librarian. But she wasn't prepared for life in this small town to be so quiet. The Victorian era mansion that houses the library is going to be demolished. Josie finds a body in the woods when she is still processing the information that her safe haven is going to be turned into scrap wood.

Josie's discovery that she comes from a long history of witches and that her abilities have suddenly manifested is almost as unexpected. Josie is looking through a list of suspects with assistance from a spoilt alley cat who might be her familiar in the hopes of conjuring a solution to preserve her library and her life.

My Review

This cozy mystery novel is the first in a brand-new series.

A supernatural mystery revolves around a teenage librarian named Josie as she runs away after overhearing some illicit activity while working at the Library of Congress and discovering that she is a witch.

I became so caught up in Josie's world because of this tale. The writing was welcoming and courteous. The wonderful library, the town, and the people of Wilford were all very real to me.

I like Josie as the primary character. She has a lot going on in her life, and it seems like something new is occurring all the time. The story moves along well, and there is more than enough humor, tension, detective work, and interesting characters to keep me interested.

Overall, it was a fun and easy read, but if you're looking for a more intricate mystery, look elsewhere.

I believe that this book will appeal most to readers who like light mysteries or who want a light mystery with a mystical, creepy, or magical element.
