The Summary

When Katy's mother passes away, she is devastated. Not only was Carol Katy's mother, but also her best friend and first caller. When Katy needed her the most, she had all the answers, but she is no longer there. The planned mother-daughter trip of a lifetime to Positano, the enchanted city where Carol spent the summer just before she met Katy's father, threatens to make problems worse. Katy had been waiting for Carol to take her for a long time, but now she has go on the trip by herself.

But as soon as Katy arrives on the Amalfi Coast, she starts to sense her mother's presence. Invigorated by the breathtaking cliffsides, clear waters, friendly locals, and, of course, delicious food, Katy feels her life beginning to return.

Carol then materializes, looking thirty years old, healthy, and suntanned. Katy has no idea what's going on or how it happened; all she can think about is how she's miraculously managed to get her mother back. Over the course of one Italian summer, Katy gets to know Carol as the young lady who came before her rather than as her mother. She is not quite how Katy had pictured her, though, and Katy will soon have to make sense of the mother who knew everything and the young woman who is still clueless.

My Review

Despite how much I adore the cover page, I found it difficult to relate to Katy, the female MC.

She was really immature, and I don't understand why if your mother is the love of your life and she decides that since her true love has died, she cannot stay with her spouse and that she is no longer able to move on with her life, you shouldn't get married. What then constitutes your husband?

Only because I was so engaged in the descriptions of Italy's superb cuisine and lovely environs was I able to finish the book. I find the entire book to be rather strange.

I'm very intrigued by the concept of going back in time to a crucial event that also altered your life without your knowing. But I only believed that the execution was subpar.

Although I doubt I'll suggest it, you might want to give it a try if you're looking for something picturesque to make your next vacation simpler, especially something with an Italian feel.
