The Summary
Freya Scott is tying the knot. As someone who takes great pride in being perfectly planned, Freya is determined to make her wedding to her long-term love Matthew, who is the first of eight, the best day to remember.
But Freya's entire life plan is destroyed when Matthew cancels a few hours before they walk down the aisle. The last thing she wants after her humiliating and heartbreaking experience is to go to a summer of other people's weddings alone.
Fortunately, Freya's friends have a plan. They come up with a series of absurd tasks for her to accomplish at each gathering, intended to divert her attention away from Matthew and what might have been. Freya discovers that, despite herself, she might actually be having pleasure when she finds herself trapped in an old church restroom and needs the vicar to save her, as well as when she makes out with a bartender at a French chateau.
By the time of the final wedding, she will realize that "I do" is just the beginning and that perhaps her own love story isn't ended just yet. She will also learn that the path to a happy ending sometimes has unexpected detours.
My Review
The Wedding Season is a heartwarming and charming story of love and friendship.
After being abandoned the day before her wedding, Freya is given duties from her friends throughout a hectic wedding season to help her get over the breakup blues. The plot is entertaining, and the characters each have a distinct personality. I admire Freya's friends Ruby and Leo for their undying loyalty to her. The stunning and enticing cover of this book quickly drew me in!
Overall, I was struck by the spirit of the weddings and how the love and support of family and friends helped to mend shattered hearts.
