The Summary
A young female single. tall, dark, and attractive stranger. What might possibly fail?
Abby Reynolds isn't where she wants to be at 7 a.m. on a Monday. She want to be with her fiancé sipping coffee in her stunning loft apartment in Manhattan.
Instead, she is returning with some very old secrets to the childhood home in rural Ireland that she said she would never visit again. Specifically, she has found herself abruptly jobless, homeless, and completely single.
She feels very helpless. When she lands, the first person she encounters is a ridiculously handsome guy named Luke who offers to drive her home. Abby looks into his gleaming emerald-green eyes and realizes right away that he is just what she needs to distract her from her worries. The ideal recovery.
It's a perfect strategy. Up until the following day, when Abby discovers who he really is. not merely an unknown. He is Luke Bailey, also known as the lad next door. Luke Bailey, with whom, God help her, she thinks she may have once taken a bath together when they were younger. She would flush from head to toe if she allowed herself to envision him taking a bath right now.
And judging by the grin on his face, it was the same Luke Bailey who had been aware of her identity the entire time. And who, like everyone in the community, continues to believe she is a successful New Yorker who will soon tie the knot.
Getting beneath Luke, in Abby's opinion, will help her move past her ex. But she is being stopped by the truth. Can she tell everyone back home that she's lost everything and is single? Because she might just have to if she wants the lad next door.
My Review
Maybe it was the characters' internal monologues or the writing style, but I was engrossed in the book from the first page. We learnt more about each character and their relationships with one another as the novel progressed because there were no unnecessary filler chapters before the action began.
The characters were pleasant, and the location was a very charming rural community with more wonderful folks to meet along the way. I liked finding out more about Abby's bond with her sister and seeing as Luke and Abby's romance was reignited.
The meticulously planned plot has a lot of twists and turns, yet they all make sense and draw the reader into the story.
The tempo is perfect. This story actually had a smooth, natural flow to it. From start to finish, you'll be captivated in the plot and eager to learn what happens next.
Since there were no extremely dramatic or extreme situations, everything just worked out as it should have, which made reading easier and more enjoyable, I appreciate reading about the numerous relationship developments in this novel.
If you're looking for a cute rom-com set in the picturesque Irish countryside, this one is without a doubt a fantastic option. It's a light read that's perfect for a Saturday afternoon. Just don't anticipate anything to blow your mind if you want to prevent disappointment.
