The Summary
Set in 1970. While his parents try to resolve their differences, 12-year-old Joey Roland is taken away to live with friends of the family. The Vitale family is waiting for him in the quiet village of Greenberry, so he is glad to leave the sorrow and secrets of Chicago behind. He views their community as a boyland—a place where people ride bikes, go fishing, and go barefoot. Although Anne, Vita, and Beth, three stunning adolescent daughters, are initially wary of him, they eventually warmly accept him into their world of beauty, adventure, and dreams.
Joey develops a special bond with Vita, the middle sister, and her all-or-nothing dedication to a future in acting. Joey's "there must be more" and Vita's "I must make it happen" join together to create a magnificent summer in which the town of Greenberrry serves as the trial by fire for two hopeless romantics.
My Review
And So We Dream is a delightful coming-of-age story set in a tiny American community.
Their charmingly drawn characters and small-town surroundings struck me as being incredibly relatable. Like Joey and the three sisters in this story, we had the entire world at our fingertips, and the adventures seemed to never end. The writing made me feel everything and immediately transported me back there.
The narrative's plot and its characters both have a lot of depth, and I get an inexplicable rush from it. No matter how they experienced childhood in the past, I think everyone who reads this will be able to be charmed by the tale.
It's a charming, heartwarming story that made me feel happy. It's a great book to read for relaxation.
