The Summary

Event planner Blakely Mayfield makes mistakes as her career is threatened by a food poisoning incident. Blakely, who is battling negative news and her business partner's "advice" to take a break, accepts her closest friend's offer of use of her mountain getaway in picturesque Greyson Gap, North Carolina, without hesitation. Blakely rapidly finds that fresh mountain air, roommate chore lists, and Tucker Greyson, the annoyingly attractive housemate she didn't bargain for, would not be able to mend her damaged ego after being given the responsibility of moving outside of her comfort zone by her therapist.

Blakely learns she kind of likes the simpler life going camping, catching fish, donning hiking boots, and maybe even falling in love when she finds herself stuck between an absurd episode of The Bachelor hosted by the Greyson Gap Golden Girls crew and her handsome housemate wanting to be friends with benefits. In the little mountain town where he grew up, former baseball great Tucker Greyson loves to be alone himself. He doesn't need a stressed-out, neat-freak roommate for the summer. He devises a scheme to drive her overzealous sense of perfection from his home. He doesn't anticipate falling in love with her. Tucker tells himself to keep things straightforward and to keep his heart out of it, but when Blakely is summoned to return to her previous life, he knows that he stands to lose more than just a summer roommate.

My Review

I initially feel relieved, calmed, and relaxed as I read the book. a cliché involving rivals and lovers that isn't really one.

I liked both the main characters, Blakely and Tucker, in this slow-burning romance. They interact in a very cute way that isn't over the top. Other characters were also extremely well written, and I like the addition of a little spice.

All I can say is that this book is incredibly sweet, endearing, and funny. Despite a tiny pacing issue that I found to be initially too long, I really appreciate how the author managed to make us feel as though we were a part of the small community.

This book is ideal for you if you're seeking for a cheerful romance with just the proper amount of drama that makes you feel as though you're in a tiny town surrounded by nature.
